This area has many assets key to the development
of the Des Moines Agrimergent Technology Park. These assets
encompass excellent highway, rail and air transportation corridors,
a nexus of agribusinesses and support services, proximity
to university and job training facilities and other resources.
There is excellent growth potential to capitalize
on this area’s competitive agribusiness advantages by
redeveloping select infrastructure-rich sites. There are approximately
1,100 acres of underutilized land in southeast Des Moines
with dense infrastructure that can accommodate agribusiness
and related uses. The Agrimergent Technology Park will be
created to achieve three primary objectives—build the
property tax base, increase the use of existing dense infrastructure,
and enhance the community’s long-term quality of life.
